Why Do My Cats Follow Me Everywhere
Cats are curious creatures. They explore their world and they want to know what’s going on in your house. That’s why cats follow you around, especially if you’re a pet owner. But why do cats follow their owners? There could be a number of reasons for this behavior.
Maybe they love you
Your cats probably just want to be close to you.
Cats are affectionate, loyal, social, curious and playful. They also have an excellent memory and can learn things quickly—so it’s likely that your cat has learned that following you around is a surefire way to get attention!
Maybe they need food
If your cats follow you everywhere, they might be hungry.
Cats are known to be very food motivated. They are also curious about food and interested in what their owners eat. Many cats will even follow their owners around the house while they’re cooking, hoping for a taste of whatever’s being prepared!
Maybe they need attention
Your cats are social animals and they need to interact with people and other animals. When you keep them indoors, they will have limited opportunities to do this, so being followed around by you is probably the next best thing. If you don’t want your cat following you everywhere all the time, then consider getting a second one!
It’s important for cats to be petted regularly as it helps them relax and feel safe in their environment. This can also help reduce stress-related behavior such as aggression towards family members or other pets in your home.[1]
Maybe they’re just curious
Your cat may be following you out of curiosity.
Cats are curious by nature, so they’re interested in everything—including their owners. They might just want to check out what you’re doing and see if there’s anything interesting going on. Your cat will certainly be intrigued by your activities and possessions, but it’s usually the food that really gets them excited. Cats love treats (and also regular meals), which is why they often try to squeeze under the table when people are eating at home or at restaurants. If you feed your cat from a bowl, there’s a good chance she’ll follow you around as soon as she hears the lid rattle off the top of it!
If your kitty likes to play with toys, she might also follow closely whenever one of these items comes into view. This includes balls and other small objects like feathers or string toys—any item that moves quickly can hold her attention long enough for her to get up close enough for visual inspection purposes (which may involve pouncing).
Maybe they want you to pet them
It may seem obvious, but cats are extremely tactile and social. They love being petted, scratched and massaged by you. It’s a form of communication with you—a way for them to let you know they’re happy or content. Some cats like being near their owners so much that they can’t bear to be apart from them for too long. A hungry cat will often follow his human companion into their kitchen with hopes of getting fed! The same could be said for petting; sometimes a good petting session can take a cat’s mind off of its hunger pains for a little bit longer (but not necessarily).
In addition to following humans around the house, sometimes our feline friends enjoy following us outside as well! Cats may trail behind us on walks through the neighborhood or even ride in our cars whenever possible—all in an effort to stay close by us at all times.
Every cat will be different. Some cats will follow you around, while others prefer not to be disturbed. The key thing to keep in mind is that your cat is just trying to find their place in the world and they want your support. If they’re following you everywhere, it might be time to spend some more quality time with them!
