What Is The Ordinance For Barking Dog In Stockbridge Georgia

Ordinance number 2006-3, enacted on January 24, 2006 prohibits dogs from barking for more than 15 minutes at a time. The ordinance states that this is a “nuisance dog” and imposes a fine for owners.

  • A “nuisance dog” is any animal that barks or howls for more than 15 minutes at a time.
  • How much is the fine?
  • The fine for violation of this ordinance is $25.00 and must be paid within ten days after receiving notice from the city clerk stating that your dog has been determined to be in violation of this ordinance. If you fail to pay within ten days you may be summoned by a police officer or other peace officer or law enforcement official to appear before a magistrate judge who shall issue an appearance ticket requesting your appearance before said magistrate judge at 9:00am on July 1st, 2006 in County Court at Courthouse Square 2nd Floor courtroom 2B with proof of payment of $25 cash bond fee plus court costs (if convicted).

To pay your fine online:

  • Visit https://localgovpay.com/stockbridge/online_billing and sign in as a guest or register for an account if you don’t already have one.
  • Enter the case number provided to you by the Code Enforcement officer when he/she issued your ticket.
  • Select “Payment Options” and choose “Fines” from the dropdown menu of payment options available on that page; enter amount due; select payment method; click Add Payment Method (credit card or debit card only). If paying by credit card, please provide all required information including expiration date and CVV code (3 digit number on back of card above signature line).

The ordinance also prohibits the keeping of any animal that is not registered with the City Hall within 48 hours of its arrival. If you have a dog barking problem, please call (770) 466-3533 to report it.
